This site might have been dead for a very long time, but now is about the damn right time to bring it back to life.
The first reason, which has nothing to do with the undergoing viral scare that is unfolding in China and other parts of the world, is the fact that I nearly died at the end of 2019 due to some respiratory issues that came out of the blue and didn’t bother me too much until the moment when I woke up in the middle of the night, unable to breathe and thinking if I can make it to the kitchen to grab a knife and at least die trying to perform a tracheostomy on myself instead — with a certain chance of surviving involved — or just… dying, you know.
The second reason is that the Wuhan Coronavirus has finally received an official name. Unlike hurricanes, this virus has no nice name and we can only hope that it will stop before it turns into a hurricane that will sweep the entire planet. We have to be honest and admit the fact that most countries on this planet will not be able to handle it properly and if the COVID-19 spread grows out to reach pandemic proportions it will do more than just a culling of the human race, but will finally make the survivors realize that most national health systems on this planet are deeply flawed and not able to serve those who finance them when the time comes.
Is this an apocalyptic plague? A hard reset for the mankind? Most likely not, but we can only hope that the COVID-19 scare will be an eye opener for at least some of those in charge and for as many as possible of those who think that their votes do not matter. Everything counts, in both large and small amounts. We owe it to those who will die needlessly in the coming months to be aware of that and act accordingly in the years to come. It all starts with one vote, one educated opinion, one more mind that opens itself and tries to understand more.
